Membership

Membership in the Serbian Society of Soil Science is intended for scientists and professionals engaged in the study, management and protection of soil, in Serbia and abroad, who wish to be part of our community dedicated to the development and application of soil knowledge. The Society brings together members on the basis of their professional and scientific orientation and their interest in cooperation within joint activities.
Admission to membership is based on recommendations from existing members and follows the procedure defined by the Statute of the Society. Members have the opportunity to participate in the work of commissions and other activities of the Society, to exchange knowledge and experience and, through the Society, to develop cooperation at the national and international levels.

Members are expected to take part in the work of the Society in accordance with their own capacities and interests, to respect the goals and values of the Society, and to act responsibly towards joint activities. Membership includes the regular payment of the annual membership fee, in accordance with the decisions of the Assembly of the Society.

A member of the Society has the right to:

• participate in achieving the goals and tasks of the Society;
• elect and be elected to all bodies of the Society;
• participate in decision-making on the work of the Society at the Assembly, as well as indirectly through the bodies of the Society;
• submit a written request or suggestion to the leadership for improving the work of the Society;
• receive professional and scientific information from the bodies of the Society for the purpose of their professional and scientific development;
• seek support through the Society in establishing international contacts, with the aim of advancing soil science and developing research work;
• state their membership in the Society in their scientific work and professional advancement, for example in applications, academic promotions and similar procedures;
• receive awards and public recognition from the Society;
• exercise other rights determined by the Assembly of the Society.

The obligations of a regular member include:

• attending sessions of the Assembly of the Society;
• actively supporting the Executive Board and the presidents of commissions in carrying out their tasks;
• being willing to cooperate in the organisation of congresses, meetings and other forms of the Society’s activities, and to take on appropriate tasks;
• protecting the reputation of the Society and fulfilling all obligations prescribed by the Statute of the Society;
• using the name of the Society when appearing publicly on behalf of the Society, based on written approval from the leadership of the Society;
• regularly paying the annual membership fee, the amount of which is determined by the Assembly of the Society;
• refraining from distributing advertising material and other information that encourages the sale of services and products without the written consent of the leadership of the Society;
• taking a responsible approach to all material and other obligations of the Society.
